My final outcome for Visual Communication in Context 1

My magazine publication is a special edition supplement for Type Radios, about Peter Bilak’s interview with them.

The theme of my design is based around something Bilak says in his interview…

“Dance is comparable to typography because both rely on rhythm and harmony”

This piece of editorial design cossets of a limited colour palette and some simple yet effective layouts. The use of negative space in these layouts works brilliantly with image and text.

Incredible illustrations by Minjae Lee

Lee uses markers, pens, crayons and acrylic to create the drawings, featuring women and characterized by an atmosphere of mystery and drama.

Looking at his work, you can understand how Lee is inspired by Japanese photographer Hiroshi Nonami, whose work mainly features women in mythical and magical atmospheres.
